Returning to oil painting after 5 years, I have picked up the brush for healing. Not only my own but to spread the word about the healing arts… in a new and ironic way of course!
Womb Steam was inspired by the wondrous Mayan treatments I receive from Andrea at Eumundi’s Secrets From the Honey Tree.
About the work;
Sitting on her ‘throne’ and depicted in a typically Renaissance style, the woman is calm and composed. Engaged in the practice of womb steaming, a herbal heat treatment used for centuries, across cultures, for balancing of hormones and releasing tension. Traditionally, women of this mid-century European era would not have participated in womb steams, or if so, for very different reasons. The irony is in the exposition of the apparently taboo treatment. Demystifying it, promoting steaming and other healing arts as legitimate self-care practices for the modern woman.
